Spellathon
Please remind your child to study the Spellathon words! SCIENCE Last Thursday we joined with the Weltzein/Song students to investigate the heart. We will continue this later this week. Below are some photos from the investigation. The fifth graders had a fun and educational field trip to the 49er Museum. Traffic was a bit much in the morning, but it was well worth it. In one of the activities, students used the engineering design process to create a prototype stadium. They were given both constraints and criteria before working collaboratively to build their stadium with blocks.
What an exciting day! We received letters from our pen pals from France! We will be writing them back in the next few days. We also met with our second grade buddies to help them plan their cardboard arcade.
Below are some photos from our time with our buddies and from yesterday's science investigation. Students have been writing essays about their experiences at Outdoor Ed. Your child can show you his or her work on Google drive. If you have not turned in your field trip permission forms, please do so. Don't forget about early dismissal next week during conferences! I look forward to seeing you at your conference! The main things on our minds today were the math quiz and the map quiz! After they were over, we reflected that there were no surprises on the quizzes. We had worked with all the concepts during the past weeks. We discussed ways to ease any test anxiety we may have.
The day began with a beautiful Cove in Motion. (Later in the day to take a break in class, we worked on polishing our Warrior Pose.) The class had snack together in front of the classroom before heading off to recess. We read more in Wonder, worked on our writing projects, and worked on Front Row Math. Everyone is looking forward to the weekend--except a couple of students who are not looking forward to getting up super early for tournaments :-) ! |
